One Patient One Story

In Radiotherapy Patient Management, we were assigned a project assignment called One Patient One Story, we were grouped together and one cancer survivor, Ah K was assigned to each group as our mentee. Three of us worked as a team to create this documentary to record his life story. Empathy is one of the important things we have learned. Through listening to the past and stories of Ah K, we have gained a new perspective of the meaning of cancer treatment to cancer patients and survivors.

Radiography

Both Vivian and Derek are studying Radiography, which is a medical imaging technique used to diagnose and treat various medical conditions. They mentioned learning about medical imaging and radiation therapy, and their career aspirations as radiation therapists.

Cancer Treatment and Patient Care

In their project, both students worked with Mr. KH Au, a childhood cancer survivor. They gained knowledge about cancer treatment, the challenges faced by cancer patients, and the importance of providing comprehensive care to patients, including addressing their mental and emotional needs.

Both Vivian and Derek mentioned the importance of communication skills throughout their project. Derek highlighted the importance of effective communication and bonding with their mentee, Mr. KH Au, throughout the video production.

Derek emphasized the importance of learning through failing and not being obsessed with perfectionism. He talked about how they encountered difficulties in the video production process but gained valuable experience through trial and error.

Project Management and Teamwork

Both Vivian and Derek discussed the significance of teamwork in their project. They highlighted the importance of respecting each other's opinions, compromising, and working together to achieve their common goal of creating a documentary about Mr. KH Au's story.

Accountability and Motivation

Derek advised freshmen to take initiative in their university life. He mentioned that in university, students have the freedom to choose their paths and make their decisions, so taking responsibility for one's choices and actions is essential for a fruitful university experience.
