“Start Young” Hospitality Management Professional Challenge

 

We formed a team RedFox to participate in the “2021 Guangdong Hong Kong Macao Greater Bay Area Integrated Resort Sustainable Business Case Study Competition: “Start Young” Hospitality Management Professional Challenge” organized by the University of Macao. We were given a task to write a report and give a presentation about the practical and innovative solutions to boost sustainability in various departments within hotels and resorts in Macau. We tried our best to demonstrate our excellent business analytic capabilities and outstanding presentation skills in the topic of sustainability and resort management. We won recognition and compliment from the judges during the Q&A section and won the second place out of 23 teams from GBA universities.

  • The students participated in a business case study competition focused on sustainability developments at integrated resorts. They researched and proposed innovative solutions to boost sustainability in various departments within hotels and resorts in Macau.

  • The competition aimed to enhance understanding and awareness of business knowledge among university students in the Greater Bay Area. The students learned about on-the-ground business operations and identifying sustainable optimization solutions through field visits.

  • The team faced tight schedules during the competition and while managing schoolwork. They overcame this challenge by setting internal deadlines, proper task allocation, and working as a team to maximize efficiency.
Research and Information Literacy
  • During the competition, the team faced difficulties in finding relevant data and articles to support their report writing. They used innovative ways to gather information and relied on their teammates' expertise to process the data properly.
Project Management and Teamwork
  • The team emphasized the importance of teamwork and integrating their strengths to achieve the best results. They valued the diverse skills each team member brought and recognized the benefits of collaboration and communication.
Communication and Presentation Skills
  • The team highlighted their improvement in presentation skills through the competition. They gained confidence in delivering ideas effectively and learned how to communicate complex concepts in an easy-to-understand manner.
  • Anthony mentioned personal growth and enhanced leadership abilities as the team leader during the competition. They learned to coordinate team activities, meet deadlines, and lead effectively under pressure.
